Plastic Surgery in Orange County | M. Hugh Bailey, M.D., F.A.C.S.As a board certified plastic surgeon, in Newport Beach, (Orange County, California), I created this web site to help you understand what plastic surgery can (and cannot) do for you. It covers the more common procedures - breast augmentation, face lifts, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and more. In Orange County, plastic surgery has become an accepted part of everyday life. Less invasive procedures, such as Botox™ injections, laser treatments, peels or injections of fillers such as Restylane™, Juvederm™, collagen or fat are even more common. Orange County patients are so used to plastic surgery, that some patients prefer a "surgical" look for breast enhancement or facial surgery. Many of my patients however are afraid of looking "operated". Because excessive corrections (or bad results) get noticed, they do not realize that surgery can create a natural look, if that is what they want. Like an over-dieted body ("social x-rays" in Tom Wolfe's phrase), the overblown lips and breasts, and tight, rigid faces on display in Newport Beach are as often the patient's choice as the surgeon's. I always prefer a natural look, but the bottom line is a happy patient. In my practice, one size does NOT fit all! As one of my patients told me after picking very large breast implants, "I don't care if these look natural, I want people to know I paid for these!" Many physicians with little or no plastic surgery training have also entered the field, sometimes with devastating results for their patients. In Orange County, there are dermatologists performing facelift surgery and ear, nose and throat specialists performing breast augmentation! Often trendy names are invented and older procedures are re-named and claimed as new inventions. As your mother told you, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Here in Orange County, we have many fine board certified plastic surgeons, so take the time to find a qualified surgeon who understands your goal, whether it is a subtle enhancement or a radical look. This site reflects my personal views and extensive experience as a plastic surgeon in Newport Beach. It provides general information.
